Disconnecting battery - connecting again

  • Dear W202-freunde
If I disconnect the battery is there anything I should be aware of when I connect it again, I have read in Haynes manual that the engine controller has to "learn" to control the engine again, that is driving for 15min. under varied driving conditions, but are there anything else I have to be aware about ?

    Hi!
As far as I know, you don't have to program the engine control. This is only necessary if you have a PreMopf.

But you have to program your ABS/ESP/ASR/BAS:
Start the engine (your ABS/BAS/ASR/ESP lamps will be lightning). Turn your steering wheel to the left as far as possible, then to the right as far as possible, then back straigt. The warning lamps will go out.

You also have to program your window lifters and (if you have one) your sliding roof. I think this is explained in your car's manual.
